A Linguist’s Guide to Navigating Hate Speech Online is an interactive workshop that takes a closer look at how harmful language works in digital spaces. Through real examples and guided discussion, it explores the subtle ways hate speech can be hidden in jokes, disclaimers, loaded questions, and arguments that seem neutral on the surface. Participants will also learn practical strategies for spotting these tactics, responding thoughtfully, and helping create safer, more respectful online spaces.
The workshop is organised in cooperation with Safe Spaces partner Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights as part of the Safe Spaces programme. The workshop will be led by Anna Slámečková, a linguist and student of Arabic language.
