A Safe Spaces workshop featured in Cairo Scene magazine

A workshop combining photographic training with the theme of caring for Cairo’s street animals is being prepared by the Czech Centre Cairo in collaboration with prominent photographer Mostafa Abdel Aty.

Mostafa Abdel Aty has long served as the lead photographer of Cairo’s contemporary arts festival D-CAF and previously held the same role at the Cairo International Film Festival. He has also been actively engaged in raising awareness about animal protection through community initiatives and art. To this end, he founded Meow Tours, a long-term partner of the Safe Spaces programme. Through visual storytelling, Mostafa and his collaborators seek to shift public perceptions of street animals in Egypt, highlighting compassion and possibilities for coexistence – a perfect Safe Spaces match.

The joint initiative – a workshop, photographic walk, and subsequent exhibition (in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum Cairo) – has also attracted the attention of the prominent Cairo-based online magazine Cairo Scene. The article is available on their website as well as on Instagram (see below).
