Open Call: Creation – Myth – Art

The Creation – Myth – Art project has been developed by the Czech Institute of Egyptology in cooperation with Czech Centre Cairo, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, and Kampus Hybernská.

Concept

Creation – Myth – Art explores the ancient Egyptian creation myth(s) as a space for dialogue between past and present, science and art, as well as across different cultural perspectives. The project is grounded in research on ancient Egyptian religion and mythology, specifically drawing on the version of the myth originating from Heliopolis. The myth is reinterpreted through the lens of contemporary art.

We Invite Applications From

Egyptian artists and artists based in Egypt.

The Czech edition of the project has featured the following artists:

Artistic Brief

To create an original artwork inspired by the text of the ancient Egyptian myth of the creation of the world, using any chosen style or technique. The text will be provided to the selected artists. The work may further explore themes of dialogue between past and present, as well as between cultures.

Open to all media, styles, and techniques.
