The project of the traveling exhibition Beyond Paper Plane presents contemporary Czech illustrators and artists with a special emphasis on children's work and on the book as a three-dimensional, haptic, and autonomous artistic object. The curatorial selection showcases publications that expand the perception of the book as a medium through unconventional materials, spatial solutions, and an emphasis on materiality, thereby supporting children's imagination, creativity, and active engagement in storytelling.
After a successful launch in Cairo, the exhibition moves to Alexandria, a city with an exceptional literary and educational tradition. In Alexandria, the exhibition is hosted by the Jesuit Cultural Center, a long-term partner space of the Czech Center Cairo, which systematically focuses on supporting educational activities for children and youth, contemporary art, and intercultural dialogue.
