The international conference dedicated to the legacy of former Czech President Václav Havel has visited Cairo for the third time. This year's theme was sustainability and the environment from the perspective of women.
Czech Centers, together with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, the Václav Havel Library, and Ambassadors for Dialogue, organized the international conference dedicated to the legacy of former Czech President Václav Havel in Egypt for the third time.
This year's edition focused on climate change, environmental protection, and initiatives typically led by women aimed at raising awareness of these issues. Experts from various fields, government representatives, and especially from non-governmental initiatives and organizations shared their opinions with the audience.
In three discussion panels, focusing on theory and practice, perspectives were offered by Nikola Adamovská, a sustainable development lecturer at the Anglo-American University in Prague and the Institute of International Relations in Prague, Samah Saleh, a sustainable development manager at the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, philanthropist and co-founder of the Egyptian Food Bank Manal Saleh, entrepreneur Menna Shahin, project manager Eman Emad Eldien, and Martin Skalský, founder of the Czech ecological NGO Arnika.
The opening address was delivered by Lucie Svobodová, consul at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo and also a former assistant to Václav Havel and director of Czech Centers in Paris and Stockholm.
As part of the program, Egyptian ecological initiatives Tagaddod and Green Pan were also presented.
