The Fighters: Face to Face

The opening evening of the exhibition for the project The Fighters: Face to Face represents the culmination of the long-term work of photographer Sary Younes , who collaborated for more than a year with thirteen women living with breast cancer. Through portraits, embroideries with surgical threads, and short text or voice recordings, a collection of intimate testimonies was created about how illness transforms a woman's relationship with her own body and the world around her. The memory of pain becomes a collective gesture of strength, sharing, and mutual support.

The exhibition was created during several months of multi-layered, deeply personal work, and now the moment has come to share it with the public and open a space for meeting and reflection. The curator Melanie Partamian invites visitors to stop, notice the details, and listen to the voices behind the individual works.

Czech photographer Vladimír Kožíšek, the initiator of the original project Face to Face in the Czech Republic, was an important inspiration for the Egyptian continuation. Equally important is the partnership with the Egyptian network of oncology hospitals Baheya Foundation and Baheya Hospitals.

The exhibition will be held at Darb 1718 , the opening will take place on December 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM . It will be on display until December 30 , except for Fridays, daily from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
