Safe Spaces: Asmar Tales of Wellness

The historic Bayt al-Sinnari hosted an evening titled Asmar – An Evening of Sufi Tales and Songs, bringing together storytelling and music inspired by the Sufi tradition.

The atmosphere of the evening invited visitors on a journey where popular imagination meets cultural heritage. Through a collection of Sufi tales and songs, the audience together with the artists attempted to rediscover the past and sketch the outlines of the future.

The evening featured the artists:

Andrew Michel

Sherif El Yamani

Majed Suleiman

The event took place at Bayt al-Sinnari, a historic house that belongs among the preserved bourgeois residences of medieval Cairo. Today the house is managed by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and, following its restoration, has become an important cultural center.

The evening was part of the long-term Safe Spaces project of the Czech Centres network, which explores how art can create space for sharing, dialogue, and shared experience.
