Two November Sundays will feature Czech animated films in the Sunday Cinema program at the Alexandria Library. Two series of short Czech film screenings are part of the Safe Spaces program.
On Sunday, November 23rd, the following films will be screened: Anatomy of a Czech Afternoon (directed by: Adam Martinec, Czech Republic, live-action film, 2020, 22 min), Daughter (directed by: Daria Kashcheeva, Czech Republic, animated film, 2019, 15 min) and Love, Dad (directed by: Diana Cam Van Nguyen, Czech Republic, animated documentary, 2021, 13 min). All films are in Czech with Arabic subtitles. Three significant works explore family relationships, memory, and responsibility in various forms.
A week later, on Sunday, November 30th, Sunday Cinema will present another pair of contemporary Czech short films. Both films address themes of faith, rituals, and the relationship of humans to the surrounding world.
The program includes the films Buzz of the Earth (directed by: Greta Stocklassa, Czech Republic, mockumentary, 2024, 29 min) and Rites (directed by: Damián Vondrášek, Czech Republic, live-action film, 2022, 16 min). The films are presented in Czech with Arabic subtitles.
