The Safe Map performance is the outcome of an intensive six-day workshop led by Mortagal, in which participants explore the concept of safety through art, movement, storytelling, and shared experience. The project is part of the Safe Spaces programme and has been developed in collaboration between Mortagal, the Czech Centre Cairo, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.
Rather than offering definitive answers, the performance opens a space for reflection and dialogue. It invites audiences to consider what safety means to them, how it is perceived by others, and how environments based on trust, comfort, and mutual understanding can be created.
The performance is conceived as an authentic artistic journey between expression, discovery, and connection, in which individual and shared experiences are transformed into a living artistic form. The programme also includes a moderated discussion
REGISTERMortagal is an independent performing arts school that uses theatre and storytelling as tools for self-expression, dialogue, and psychosocial support.
