How can (Safe) Spaces support mental health, creative expression, and community resilience in contemporary Egypt?
This one-day symposium brings together cultural professionals and experts to reflect on spaces not only as physical locations, but also as social and cultural fields of action that shape and influence creativity and access to the arts.
The programme will feature expert contributions and a moderated discussion focused on good practices from art, culture, and community-based work. Attention will be given to how cultural spaces can foster collaboration, reach new audiences, and respond to current challenges, while also creating room for listening, reflection, and dialogue.
The symposium connects two long-term frameworks: the Safe Spaces project of the Czech Centre Cairo, and SPACES, the 2026 thematic focus of the Austrian Cultural Forum. Together, they represent strong Central European partnership and cooperation in Cairo, grounded in exchange and collaborative cultural practice.
