We invite you to a screening of the documentary film Ta Druhá – The Other One, directed by Marie-Magdalena Kochová. The film follows Johana, a teenage girl who longs to leave her small hometown, graduate from high school, and go to university. Her final year, however, is far more demanding than that of her classmates. At home, she plays an irreplaceable role, helping to care for her younger sister with a disability.
Despite the love within her family, Johana must break free from others’ expectations, find her own space, and step out of her sister’s shadow. As a so-called “glass child” — unintentionally overlooked by overworked parents and the world around her — she struggles with doubt and guilt. Can she allow herself to put her own needs first?
The screening will be followed by an open discussion focusing on mental health and safe spaces, facilitated by the Safe Spaces programme partner in Egypt, The Dialogue Company.
