The artistic residency of Czech artist František Felix at Shelter Art Space in Alexandria took place throughout February and March 2025 and focused on the development of the project HAVEN. During the residency, František Felix continued to explore his long-term interest in materials, physical forms, and spatial engagement. Over the course of the residency, the gallery gradually transformed into an open platform where wall-mounted paintings served as starting points for live artistic interactions and collaborative creation.
The residency culminated in a public programme and the opening of the HAVEN exhibition on March 21 and 22, 2025. The final events brought together local and international artists and creators who, through workshops, performances, and discussions, explored themes of home, memory, gestures, and storytelling. The project was realized in collaboration with Czech Centres, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, Shelter Art Space, and MeetFactory Prague, creating space for dialogue between artists and the public and blurring the boundaries between artistic creation and reception.
