The project of the traveling exhibition Beyond Paper Plane presents contemporary Czech illustrators and artists focusing on children's creation. The curatorial selection showcases books that work with three-dimensional space and push the book object towards an autonomous work of art.
The contemporary children's book is also understood within the exhibition as a starting point for creative development — from hand-enhancing illustrations to their possible translation into digital or virtual environments.
The fourth Egyptian presentation of the exhibition will be part of Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children , it will be on display from January 31 to February 4, 2026 at Goethe-Institut Cairo . The Hakawy Festival is an important platform for contemporary art for children and young audiences in Egypt and has systematically contributed to the development of the artistic scene focused on the youngest generations since 2011. Including the exhibition Beyond Paper Plane in the festival program will allow Czech illustration to be placed in a broader context of contemporary art for children.
