Beyond Paper Plane / More than just a flat paper
Exhibition project Beyond Paper Plane / More than just a flat piece of paper presents contemporary Czech illustrators and artists and their book creation for children .
The curatorial selection presents books whose artistic processing hovers on the border of three-dimensional objects and standalone works of art . Illustrations experiment with materials that are not entirely typical for books , such as metal, textiles, optical films, photographs, or found objects, while pushing the boundaries of the usual book format and the associated traditional media (classical watercolor, drawing, graphics, or painting).
The exhibition is divided into 8 thematic sections (Plastic Object, Soft Illustration, Paper Collage, Trompe l'oeil, Leporello with an Overlap, Architectural Book, Interactive Reading is Playing, Anime as Alive) and, in addition to the books themselves, includes related artistic objects, toys, archival book prototypes, short animated films, or a computer game for children.
