Czech Book Club regularly opens the door to the world of Czech literature – from classics to contemporary authors. The eighth edition will present Petra Soukupová’s novel Best for Everybody.
Participants will immerse themselves in the work of the contemporary Czech author Petra Soukupová. The novel follows the story of ten-year-old Viktor, who is sent from Prague to live with his grandmother in the countryside after his mother, an aspiring actress, lands a role in a television series. She hopes the change will benefit them both – her son and herself – yet nothing unfolds as she imagined. Soukupová masterfully portrays tense family relationships and the inner world of a child learning to cope with helplessness in the adult world.
The evening will be moderated by Nora Nagi.
