The exhibition Famous Czech Composers presented four major figures of Czech classical music. Its opening at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo was accompanied by a chamber concert performed by a quartet of students from the Cairo Conservatoire.
The exhibition introduced the life stories of Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček, and Bohuslav Martinů. The opening was attended by distinguished guests, including the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt, Ivan Jukl; Christian Berger, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt; Mohamed Abdel Dayem, Deputy Minister of Culture of Egypt; and the renowned Egyptian soprano Dina Iskander. The atmosphere of the vernissage was further enhanced by a performance by a quartet of young students from the Cairo Conservatoire, who also interpreted works by Antonín Dvořák.
As part of the opening, visitors could also learn engaging insights into Czech musical footprints in Egypt, a series presented by the Czech Centre Cairo on its social media channels.
The event was part of the Year of Czech Music, which includes numerous events worldwide and marks important anniversaries, such as 200 years since the birth of Bedřich Smetana. The exhibition was organized by the Czech Centre Cairo in cooperation with the National Museum of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.
