The EU Film Festival returns to Alexandria this year, offering a programme from 3 May to 6 June 2026. The festival consistently presents a selection of contemporary European cinema and regularly brings notable Czech films to local audiences.
In previous years, the festival featured titles such as Panelstory (2023), Il Boemo (2024), and Living Large (2025). This year’s edition continues with the screening of Waves (Vlny), which will be shown on 24 May 2026 at Instituto Cervantes Alejandría.
Directed by Jiří Mádl, Waves is a historical thriller inspired by the true story of journalists at Czechoslovak Radio in the late 1960s. The film captures a tense period of political pressure, media responsibility, and personal courage. The festival is held with the participation of European cultural institutions and partners, including EUNIC Egypt and the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt.
