The very first Czech Book Club took place in Cairo.
The event aims to regularly guide Cairo-based readers through both classic and contemporary Czech literature. The inaugural session was moderated by writer and journalist Nora Nagi. Participants were introduced to All This Belongs to Me, the debut novel by Czech author Petra Hůlová. She personally presented the Arabic translation of the book, along with her other works, during Cairo Literature Night 2023.
The Czech Book Club is organized with the ambition of becoming a regular gathering as part of the long-term project Reading Czech. In line with the project’s goals, Arabic translations of selected Czech works – as well as Czech originals or English translations – are placed in partner venues.
