The musical performance I Am the Voice by Ridina Ahmedová as part of the Arab Arts Focus program of the D-CAF festival was followed by an interactive meeting titled My body is mine.
During the interactive meeting, Ridina Ahmedová presented her project My body is mine and subsequently led a discussion on positive body perception. The project was developed in response to her successful original podcast Sádlo, which dealt with societal pressure on the appearance of the female body and the issue of body shaming.
Participants in the meeting became familiar with techniques and methods from workshops that the My body is mine project brings to primary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic – they are equally effective for adults as well.
The meeting, like the musical performance, took place as part of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF), which is the largest international multidisciplinary arts festival in Egypt, organized annually by Orient Productions since 2012. The event was also connected to the long-term project of the Czech Centre Cairo titled Czech and Egyptian Heroines.
