The spaces of the American University in Cairo hosted a document from behind the scenes of the everyday situations of Václav Havel, the first president of Czechia. After the screening, there was a discussion about the legacy of Václav Havel.
The screening was an accompanying event before the upcoming international conference VÁCLAV HAVEL EUROPEAN DIALOGUES 2022: THE POWER OF DIALOGUE, which aims to raise broader questions of civic engagement.
The screening of the documentary Citizen Havel was part of the Czech Republic's presidency program in the EU Council. The event was co-organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo and the Political Science Students' Association at the American University in Cairo.
